Newly re-signed Porzingis could be on his way out of Golden State, according to reports.

The Golden State Warriors have begun exploring trades for Kristaps Porzingis, per NBA insider Shams Charania.

Porzingis has been away from the team throughout training camp and preseason—despite being in the building in the offseason— while dealing with a previously undisclosed health issue.

That issue is now known to be recurring symptoms of an autoimmune condition, POTS, according to Charania's report.

Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome is a chronic nervous system disorder, marked by abnormal heart rate jumps within 10 minutes of standing up. It can cause lightheadedness, brain fog, fatigue, palpitations, and exercise intolerance — prompting Porzingis to contemplate his future in basketball.

As of this morning, Porzingis remains with the Warriors, with no timetable for his return.

That could change quickly if Golden State can find a dance partner for a trade. However, finding a suitor for a 31-year-old big man who, by the sound of it, is flirting with retirement may be impossible.

Entering his 11th season in the league, Porzingis — at 7-foot-2 — brings a skill set that would normally be in high demand. But due to his injury history, age, and this recent development, the risk for teams is high.

Porzingis played in just 32 games last season, 15 with the Warriors following the midseason trade from Atlanta.

He averaged 16.1 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks in Golden State, urging the franchise to re-sign him to a two-year, $40 million veteran extension in the summer, liking the potential of his one-two punch with Stephen Curry.

Porzingis has already been paid $20 million for this season, and he holds a player option for 2027-28.

However, his first offseason as a full-time member of the Warriors did not go according to plan.

Porzingis was around during the offseason, but the Warriors learned fairly late that he wouldn't be joining them for training camp in Hawaii, citing a mysterious illness.

It wasn't long before rumors started flying around, and Porzingis had to address the noise himself.

He returned to Golden State's Chase Center facility in San Francisco on Oct. 13 to meet with general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. and Vice President of Player Health Dr. Rick Celebrini.

The Warriors, naturally, did not reveal the meeting details, but all accounts suggested it was great to see Porzingis back in the building and that his return timeline remained unknown, though the team looked forward to having him back.

A day later, on Oct. 14, the man in question took to social media to clear some things up.

"Hello people, I'm working with doctors and experts to figure out how to be fully back to good health asap," Porzingis said in a statement on X. "Honestly, I'm getting better and better. I just have to stay patient, and I believe I'll be feeling great again soon.

"It has definitely been frustrating dealing with some health stuff that you can't exactly pinpoint, on top of injuries throughout my career, so it has added up for sure, but we will get through it.

"Health is wealth. Thank you for all the support."

Fast forward a week, and more than just Porzingis' future as a Warrior is now uncertain.
