The Warriors will be facing the Nuggets without two of their stars.

The Golden State Warriors got two days off to regroup after falling to the Boston Celtics on Thursday night in the first game back from the All-Star break. It was a game of major runs, as the Celtics led by as many as 34 points thanks to a dominant second quarter, yet only won by 11 due to a furious comeback attempt in the fourth quarter by the Warriors.

Nonetheless, it was a mark in the loss column, and with Steph Curry announced to be on the shelf for at least 10 more days with his right knee continuing to have pain and swelling, things weren't exactly looking up as the Warriors prepared to welcome the Denver Nuggets to Chase Center on Sunday afternoon.

Warriors To Play Without Two Stars

Most of the Warriors' injury report was listed as expected. Curry was out with his knee issue, Seth Curry remains out with his sciatic irritation, Jimmy Butler is gone for the rest of the season because of his ACL tear, and G-League players LJ Cryer, Malevy Leons, and Nate Williams round out the inactive two-way players.

However, there is one name that joined this normal group, and it's potentially the name Warriors fans wanted to see the least on the injury report: Kristaps Porzingis.

Initially, the newest Warrior was probable to play with the lingering effects of his Achilles tendinitis injury. After he played 17 minutes in his first game action since early January, a bit of caution was sure to be exerted, but the two-day break led people to believe Porzingis would be good to go for Sunday's game.

Alas, this is part of the risk the Warriors took when they traded for Porzingis. In the span of under an hour, Porzingis's reason for being listed on the injury report shifted from the Achilles tendinitis to an illness, and his status quickly changed from probable to questionable, then from questionable to out.

It's a disappointing sight that Porzingis won't be able to match up with the Nuggets, especially considering his size would have been useful for dealing with Nikola Jokic, even if it was only for short spurts.

Nuggets Potentially Missing Three Starters

The Nuggets aren't exactly faring too well in the injury department, either, as has been their luck for much of this season. Two starters/starter-level players, Aaron Gordon and Peyton Watson, have already been ruled out.

Gordon has missed the last 11 games with a strained right hamstring, while Watson will miss his 6th-straight game, also due to a right hamstring strain.

The former being absent again is notable, considering the last time he was in Chase Center for the Warriors' home opener in October, he dropped a career-high 50 points on 10-11 shooting from three-point land. It's a sigh of relief that the Warriors don't have to deal with that today.

Jalen Pickett is also out due to right knee soreness, and the Nuggets could potentially end up with a shorthanded backcourt if Jamal Murray's questionable tag doesn't get a favorable update. Murray played 25 minutes in the Nuggets' 54-point win over the Trail Blazers on Friday, but is listed as questionable due to right hamstring tightness.

Considering Gordon and Watson both have strained right hamstrings, it may be in the Nuggets' best interests to allow Murray's right hamstring to rest up and recover fully.

Of course, Jokic is healthy and able to completely carry the team no matter who's around him, so this won't be a light game for the Warriors, even if Murray is a no-go.
