The Golden State Warriors got off to a strong start to begin the 2025-26 campaign, after they were in the headlines all offseason for their negotiations with Jonathan Kuminga and lack of signings up until right before the preseason. However, since starting the season 4-1, they've gone just 1-3, and the age of this roster seems to be catching up with them.
In Golden State's 121-116 loss to the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday, they were without Steph Curry, Jimmy Butler, and Draymond Green, although Curry was just dealing with an illness. Regardless, having their stars out on the court is vital to the success of this Warriors team, and it could be messy yet again on Friday in their rematch with the Denver Nuggets.
Leading the way on the Warriors' injury report, unfortunately, is Steph Curry, who has been ruled OUT as he continues to battle an illness. Curry was held out against the Kings and didn't even make the commute to the game. It appears as though Curry is set to return on Sunday against the Indiana Pacers when the Warriors return home, as long as the illness clears up.
In eight appearances this season, Curry is averaging 26.8 points, 4.3 assists, and 3.6 rebounds in 31.1 minutes per game. Curry is currently averaging the fewest assists per game in his career, as well as the second fewest rebounds per game of his career. Regardless, his impact on this Warriors team is still enormous, and they'll be big underdogs without him.
As for the other names listed, Jimmy Butler is listed as QUESTIONABLE with a right lower back strain, while Draymond Green is listed as PROBABLE with a right rib contusion. Butler has appeared in eight games this season, averaging 19.0 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game. The most impressive part has been his three-point shooting, sitting at 47.4% on 2.4 attempts.
The injury report is rounded out by De'Anthony Melton, who remains OUT as he continues to recover from his torn ACL last season. Melton was a solid piece for the Warriors in his small sample size last season, and they'll hope he can return to a similar form once he's back and healthy on the court.
Looking ahead to Friday's contest, tip-off is set for 10:00 p.m. EST in Denver, with the Nuggets looking to get revenge after the Warriors defeated them in their season opener. The game will be shown on Prime Video.
