Warriors Without Key Forward On Injury Report In Rematch vs Spurs cover image

The Golden State Warriors will be without one of their key forwards in their rematch against the San Antonio Spurs

The Golden State Warriors couldn't have asked for a better start to their 2025-26 campaign, with a 4-1 record and wins over the Los Angeles Lakers and Denver Nuggets. Unfortunately, it all went downhill after that, with the team moving to 6-6 on the year after suffering a 126-102 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The team was clearly frustrated after the loss, expressing that postgame, and responded with a 125-120 win over the San Antonio Spurs, where Steph Curry led the way with 46 points. On Friday, they remain in San Antonio to have a rematch with the Spurs in the NBA Cup Group Play. Unfortunately for the Warriors, they won't be at 100% when they do so.

Warriors Injury Report

The Warriors will be without forward Jonathan Kuminga on Friday night, as he's listed as OUT with bilateral knee tendinitis. Kuminga was limited to 12 minutes in the team's win on Wednesday night, and his absence on Friday will be his first of the season.

Kuminga was the top headline for the Warriors this offseason, as his restricted free agency negotiations lasted all the way into October, before he came to terms on a two-year deal with a team option for the second season. Kuminga's play has dipped as of late, but he's averaging 13.8 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 2.8 assists in 13 games this season.

The other name for the Warriors is De'Anthony Melton, who remains OUT as he recovers from a torn left ACL he suffered before being dealt from Golden State to the Brooklyn Nets last season. Melton showed promise in his limited action with the Warriors last season, and if he returns at 100%, he should be a key piece to this rotation.

The Spurs currently sit at 8-3 on the year with the third seed in the Western Conference entering Friday night's slate. With the Warriors trying to overcome their rough stretch of play, back-to-back wins will greatly help their momentum as they travel to face the New Orleans Pelicans on Sunday to start the second half of their six-game road trip.

For the Spurs on the injury report, the two key players listed are Dylan Harper, who remains OUT with a calf strain, and wing Julian Champagnie who is QUESTIONABLE as he deals with a right hip contusion.

Tip-off in San Antonio is set for 9:30 p.m. EST, with the Warriors looking to secure their first win in NBA Cup Group Play.
