The Golden State Warriors are entering this offseason with questions surrounding their small forward position. Jimmy Butler III and Moses Moody are projected to miss significant time after suffering season-ending injuries, and those are two players who take up a bulk of the cap space. 

The Warriors are also a potential landing spot for LeBron James, but that may only work depending on other moves they make, so the franchise could be looking elsewhere to fill that hole at the 3 spot this season. 

One player the Warriors could pursue this offseason is Pelicans forward Trey Murphy III. According to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, the Warriors are among the teams that could be looking to trade for the 26-year-old forward this summer. 

The Warriors are in an interesting spot because, although they have enough assets to make a trade for a player like Murphy, two of their potential assets are down with major injuries with no exact timetable on their returns. 

The Pelicans reportedly have a high asking price, and if the Warriors enter negotiations with New Orleans, they may hit a standstill because Golden State may not have enough other assets to give away. 

Rookie forward Yaxel Lendeborg could be on the table as well, but he's one of the rookies in the draft who is expected to make immediate contributions for their teams next season. 

He has enough experience in college as well as the frame to play from day one with the Warriors. 

Nonetheless, if they believe Trey Murphy III can really solve a lot of their issues, Golden State may be fine with budging on the Pelicans' high asking price. Murphy has shown he can be a pivotal player to a playoff team in the past, and if he gets moved, he can be that same player again. 

He's coming off a season in which he averaged 21.5 points per game on 47 percent field goal percentage. Murphy can also shoot the ball well from the perimeter, as his three-point percentage was 37.9 this past season. 

He is also a very solid perimeter defender and is very athletic. Like the Warriors, many teams have been trying to find that well-rounded forward, and Murphy is the kind of player many teams would like to have. 

Golden State would have to give up a lot to get Murphy, but with the issues they have at small forward, and it being potentially Steph Curry's last season in the Bay Area, they could choose to trade for him to make one last playoff push before moving on.
