The Washington Wizards are back in action on Wednesday night in a game featuring two of the NBA's worst teams with the Utah Jazz set to host with tipoff set for 9 PM in game two of a five game road trip for head coach Brian Keefe and his squad.
Washington enters Wednesday evening just 0.5 games back from tying the Indiana Pacers, who host the Los Angeles Lakers tonight, for the league's worst record with a chance to take sole possession with both teams in action. But after the Pacers pulled out the upset on the road against the Orlando Magic on Monday night, it's Washington who now comfortably owns the league's longest losing streak with a chance to avoid setting a new franchise record with 17 consecutive losses.
The Jazz have lost each of their last two games and six of their last seven, all but one by double digits, as they enter Wednesday night comfortably sitting with the league's fifth worst record with a top eight protected pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, like Washington.
Wednesday night also marks the second and final meeting between the two teams this year after the Jazz pulled out a ten point win at Capital One Arena earlier this month, a game that featured Trae Young's debut and a dazzling performance from rookie Julian Reese.
The Wizards will do so once again short-handed with Anthony Davis, Kyshawn George, Tre Johnson, D'Angelo Russell, Alex Sarr, Cam Whitmore and Trae Young all ruled out. Bilal Coulibaly enters tipoff with a questionable tag due to high retrocalcaneal bursitis, as does Tristan Vukcevic due to lower back tightness.
The Jazz will also be without a handful of key pieces with Isaiah Collier, Keynote George, Jaren Jackson Jr., Walker Kessler, Lauri Markkanen, Jusuf Nurkic and Brice Sensabaugh all ruled out. Kyle Filipowski is also ruled out due to illness while Cody Williams is ruled questionable due to right shoulder soreness.
Wednesday will mark the return of one player for the Wizards with forward Justin Champagnie now available after serving his one game suspension for his role in the fight within the final minute of the first half against the Detroit Pistons. Champagnie was one of four players disciplined during the game and one of two players who served a suspension, but with a shorthanded roster once again, he'll get a chance to join Bub Carrington and Will Riley as key contributors with a chance to get back in the win column.
