After a competitive road loss against the Golden State Warriors on Friday night, the Washington Wizards will return to the court for game three of the five game road trip when they take on the Portland Trail Blazers and former Wizard Deni Avdija once again.

This marks the second and final meeting between the two teams this season after the Wizards pulled out a four point win at the Capital One Arena back on Jan. 27. Portland also enters Sunday looking to stay on the right side of the bubble with just a 0.5 game lead ahead of Golden State for the ninth spot in the Western Conference standings, along with 1.5 games behind the Los Angeles Clippers.

The Trail Blazers have won five of their last seven games, but are coming off a seven point loss against the Dallas Mavericks at home on Friday night.

Washington, of course, is not in the mix for the postseason as they enter tipoff still sitting among the worst records in the league. The Wizards sit one game ahead of the Sacramento Kings in the tankathon race, while the Brooklyn Nets sit 0.5 games and the Indiana Pacers 1.5 games ahead of Washington in the race for the top overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft.

And similar to the last month, Washington will do so shorthanded once again. Bilal Coulibaly has been ruled questionable once again due to right retrocalcaneal bursitis, joining Leaky Black as toss ups ahead of tipoff with the two-way guard battling right adductor soreness. Washington will once again be without Anthony Davis, Kyshawn George, Tre Johnson, D'Angelo Russell, Alex Sarr, Cam Whitmore and Trae Young.

The Trail Blazers will also be without several players on Sunday with Jeremi Grant, Damian Lillard, Vit Krejci, Shaedon Sharpe and Chris Youngblood all ruled out against the Wizards. Robert Williams III is also ruled questionable due to low back soreness.

Whether the Wizards will be able to put together another competitive showing in hopes of securing the second road win of the month will be the biggest question once again as head coach Brian Keefe look for the signs of encouragement over the final nine games of the 2025-26 regular season.
