The drought finally came to a close on Wednesday for Washington, snapping their 16-game losing streak, by far their biggest of the season. Now, for their third game of their road trip, they have the chance to start a small winning streak potentially, looking for a win against the Golden State Warriors. The Wizards have played Golden State once already this season, where they lost at home 125-117.
With exactly 10 games left to play in the season and being out of the race completely, this is a good time for this squad to really mesh together and take every lesson they learned into the offseason. Julian Reese of the Wizards has really taken that initiative seriously, putting up a very impressive performance in their win over the Jazz, where he recorded 26-points and 17-rebounds, another double-double to add to his season.
Though this is not a must-win game for Washington, as none of them are, the Warriors are in must-win mode for the rest of their season, trying to get up in the play-in standings, currently two and a half games behind the Portland Trail Blazers, as Golden State holds that last spot. For Washington, they have done a really good job sliding back down to the bottom three of the league, only a game ahead of the worst-record team Indiana Pacers, a fellow Eastern Conference team.
The Warriors have won two of their last five, coming against two poor teams in Brooklyn and Dallas. With Washington needing to continue their descent to the bottom for a potential top-three draft pick, tonight would be a prime opportunity for them, if you want to look at it that way.
Both team will be significantly short tonight, with major players on both sides being out.
