Washington Wizards Set to Take on Ignited Sacramento Kings Squad cover image

Wizards seek to end a losing streak against an unexpectedly hot Kings squad, battling injuries and relying on youthful firepower for a crucial win.

The Washington Wizards are on game three of their west coast road trip, this time taking on the Sacramento Kings at 10:00 PM ET.

Washington will look to end their four game losing streak tonight against one of the worst teams in the entire NBA.

However, Sacramento has been playing with a different level of intensity, as they have won their last three games against all great opponents: Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Angeles Lakers and New York Knicks.

Sacramento's 2025-26 campaign has not gone to plan, as their 11-30 record is second worst in the Western Conference, and fourth worst in the entire league.

Lead by veterans Zach Lavine, Demar DeRozan and Domantas Sabonis, Washington's youth will have their hands full with trying to slow these vets down tonight.

Unlike Sacramento, Washington has been on a four game losing streak with loses to the Philadelphia 76ers, New Orleans Pelicans, Pheonix Suns and Los Angeles Clippers.

More mad news for Washington comes in the form of injuries, as on Friday they will be without Bilal Coulibaly (back), Tristan Vukcevic (left knee soreness), Khris Middleton (rest) and Cam Whitmore (deep vein thrombosis). Trae Young is not set to make his Washington Wizards debut in this one either, as his MCL and quad injury will keep him out till at least the All-Star break, pending further evaluation. The hope is that Young will make his Wizards debut in mid to late February, but Washington will continue to be cautious and play the situation safely.

Once again, Washington will have to rely on their youth to get them back into the win column, as Alex Sarr, Kyshawn George, Bub Carrington and Tre Johnson will be heavily depended on to score the basketball.

If there's a player that knows how to score the basketball, it would be Johnson. The rookie guard oozes confidence, and you can tell that he is slowly developing game after game.

In the month of January, Johnson is averaging 13.1 points on 47.1/32.4/100 shooting splits in 26.9 minutes per game.

Sophomore forward Kyshawn George is coming off of one of his best games of the season against Los Angeles where he scored 23 points, hauled in five rebounds, dropped four dimes on 9-of-15 shooting from the field. I expect George to get a lot of action tonight, especially as a primary ball handler and shot creator.

It would be nice for Washington to get back into the win column tonight, especially against a bad Sacramento team. However, for the sake of the draft pick, this game could go either way. Tip-off is set for 10:00 PM ET.
