The Washington Wizards will officially learn their fate in the 2026 NBA Draft with the lottery set for Sunday

The day has finally arrived.

After a season filled with blowout losses, new lows and inconsistent roster availability, the Washington Wizards will officially learn what that means for their draft standing with the 2026 NBA Draft order set to be revealed today.

The 2026 NBA Draft Lottery is set to take place in Chicago today and will be unveiled live on ESPN starting at 3 PM. The final four picks will be revealed following a commercial break, giving Wizards fans hope that they will have to wait the duration of the 30 minute segment.

Washington finished the 2025-26 regular season just 17-65 to secure the NBA's worst record, leading the Wizards to join the Indiana Pacers and Brooklyn Nets to draw the maximum 14% odds to land the top overall pick.

For a team looking to land the top overall pick for the first time since 2010, the Wizards will have a fitting representative in attendance after announcing former All Star point guard John Wall will head to Chicago. Yet for a team looking for the best possible outcome, general manager Will Dawkins admitted the priority is "to get lucky."

"The way I look at it is we're already fortunate enough to add a top five player in this draft. I feel very confident that our staff will be able to pick the best player if we have five," Dawkins told reporters during his end of season press conference. "I'm very comfortable at five. It's the most likely outcome."

The Wizards also own a 13.4% chance to land the second overall pick, a 12.7% chance to secure the third overall pick, a 12% chance to secure the fourth overall pick along with a 47.9% chance to secure the fifth overall pick.

The good news is Washington can't drop any worse than the fifth overall pick, giving the front office a chance to land the superstar that the roster is in desperate need of landing. The risk this season has been whether Washington would fall out of the top eight, which would have been owed to the New York Knicks, yet the Wizards made that a non-question over the final three months of the season after suffering three losing streaks spanning ten or more games.

The Wizards will look for luck in a draft that features AJ Dybantsa, Caleb Wilson, Cam Boozer and Darryn Peterson to pair with a roster that now includes Trae Young and Anthony Davis, while head coach Brian Keefe is expected to return for a third season.
