The Washington Wizards were speculated as a team who could land a "non-exclusive streaming deal" for the upcoming 2026-27 regular season

The Washington Wizards will have heightened interest next season compared to the last three seasons, now featuring enough pieces along the roster and rotation that have led to renewed fan interest around the DMV. Some like former NBA forward Kendrick Perkins have even speculated whether the Wizards are now a top five team in the Eastern Conference, fueling the flames for a return to the postseason for the first time in six seasons.

That would mark a stark difference from other preseason expectations given some have speculated whether the Wizards are a play-in team, but either way, between the arrival of Anthony Davis paired with Trae Young and the selection of top overall pick AJ Dybantsa, there's interest in the franchise that hasn't been seen since arguably the peak of the John Wall and Bradley Beal era roughly one decade ago. That renewed interest could materialize into other ways for fans to watch the Wizards in the future.

The Wizards were speculated as the NBA team who could be in line to add a non-exclusive streaming deal with DAZN, a sports streaming service. DAZN is already reportedly in the process of acquiring exclusive broadcast rights with the Minnesota Timberwolves, Cleveland Cavaliers, Indiana Pacers, San Antonio Spurs and Memphis Grizzlies. The network is also reportedly in talks with both the Orlando Magic and Charlotte Hornets in what was reported as a "hybrid linear-digital approach" to games with DAZN the intermediary for consumer broadcasts. Whether the Wizards opt for a similar model if a deal with DAZN does materialize would be the question given the franchise's partnership with Monumental Sports Network, the exclusive home of Wizards, Mystics and Capitals content.

Yet the connection between the Wizards and DAZN actually stems from Monumental Sports Network given the network also partners with ViewLift, who merged into DAZN after a $100 million acquisition in the spring.

DAZN is already set to broadcast all non-national games for both the New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets for the upcoming season, though Sports Business Journal also reported that teams have asked for one year deal or exit clauses following the 2026-27 season given the NBA is launching a centralized hub for local broadcasts for the 2027-28 regular season. DAZN also serves as a global player for both NHL and NBA broadcast services, but whether a deal with the Wizards materializes remains to be seen as the network eyes broadcast rights for one-third of the league ahead of the 2026-27 regular season.
