The Washington Wizards are set to play in one more game this weekend before closing the 2026 Summer League slate
The NBA has finalized the last portion of the Summer League schedule as the Washington Wizards are set to return to the court this upcoming weekend for the finale.
The Wizards will face the Atlanta Hawks on Saturday, July 18 with tipoff set for 7 PM ET, the league announced on Friday morning.
The Hawks enter the meeting standing at 3-1 in Las Vegas with the lone loss coming on Thursday night following a 32-point defeat against the Memphis Grizzlies. Atlanta also pulled out wins against Boston, Brooklyn and San Antonio through the first three games, while they also suited up in Utah prior to arriving in Las Vegas where they won two of their three games.
Washington, meanwhile, enters the meeting coming off consecutive losses, first against Brooklyn before falling against the Los Angeles Clippers the following night, yet they also did so shorthanded. Washington has been without Jamir Watkins since the first game after the second-year jumbo guard aggravated his knee while guarding Darryn Peterson in the first quarter, while the team also announced that AJ Dybantsa, Will Riley and Tre Johnson were all shut down for the final three games.
The Wizards were also without forward Felix Okpara, who the team acquired after sending both second round picks to the Orlando Magic, in Wednesday's loss after sitting out on the second of the back-to-back. Whether Okpara or Watkins will be available in the finale remains to be seen as the Wizards look to close out the Summer League games above .500 overall.
The finale also gives players like Reece Beekman and Seth Trimble a chance to impress as they look to secure spots on the Wizards' and Go-Go roster, while whether second-year center Julian Reese is available on Saturday night will pose its own question after being a healthy scratch in Wednesday's loss. Yet the backcourt could face its own test with a chance to slow down former Houston guard and lottery selection Kingston Flemings.
The second Summer League loss also pushed the Wizards out of playoff contention with the postseason set to begin this weekend and run into next week. Still, with the vast majority of the roster in attendance sitting courtside for the Summer League slate, the Wizards will look to close out on a high note before the full team resumes practice amid a hopeful return to postseason play during the upcoming 2026-27 regular season.
