The Washington Wizards have reportedly agreed to a three year deal with Tristan Vukcevic, ESPN reported on Saturday.

Locked On Wizards

The Washington Wizards have reportedly locked down one depth piece in the front court beyond the 2025-26 season after news broke of a contract extension for one player.

Shams Charania of ESPN reported on Saturday afternoon that the Wizards have agreed to a new three year, $9 million deal with two-way center Tristan Vukcevic.

Vukcevic is averaging 7.9 points and 2.7 rebounds in 12.3 minutes and 35 appearances this season, though he left Friday's win early due to hamstring tightness after posting 14 points and eight rebounds in game two against Indiana.

Vukcevic has posted double figures scoring in six consecutive games including at least 12 points in each of his last five appearances where he's looked good in limited action through the 2025-26 season.

Vukcevic now becomes the 13th player under contract for the Wizards in the early makeup of the 2026-27 season, though that figure also includes D'Angelo Russell whose status with the Wizards remains unclear after general manager Will Dawkins noted the two sides were exploring their options following the trade deadline deal centered around Anthony Davis.

The Wizards big man has stepped into a bigger role in the rotation in recent games with Alex Sarr sidelined due to his hamstring injury that has sidelined him since just prior to the All Star break. While Washington will enter the offseason with a chance to tweak its core group of players, Vukcevic now returns to stabilize the front court depth where he's proven to be more than serviceable when on the floor.

Vukcevic was previously announced as signed by the Wizards to a two-way contract where he played a similar role with the franchise during the 2024-25 season. During his first season with the team, Vukcevic averaged 9.4 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game in one start and 35 appearances in 2024-25. He also did so shooting just under 50% from the field and over 37% from three, while he notched double figures scoring in 15 games including a career-high 28 points and 11 rebounds in the season finale against the Miami Heat to end the season.

Vukcevic joined the Wizards in mid-March 2024 after opening the season with KK Partizan Belgrade of the Adriatic League (Liga ABA). He previously won the Spanish Supercup after beginning his professional career with Real Madrid in Spain before moving onto Partizan Belgrade where he won an ABA League championship in 2023.

With the open two-way slot following Vukcevic's new contract, the Wizards are also signing current guard/forward Leaky Black to a two-way deal. Black spent time with the Charlotte Hornets last season before joining the Capital City Go-Go where he's averaging 10.9 points and 4.5 rebounds in nearly 35 minutes and 14 appearances.
