On the latest episode of the Wizards Roundtable Podcast, we dive into how the 15th roster spot should be sorted and our takeaways from the 2026-27 regular season schedule

Hosted by Tyler Lochte and Ahmed Ghafir on the next episode of DC Roundtable diving into the Washington Wizards, we dive into what has been a slow, but impactful offseason for general manager Will Dawkins and the front office as they put the final pieces around what could be the franchise's strongest roster foundation in a decade.

First, the 2026-27 regular season schedule has been officially unveiled as we highlight a handful of notable opponents who will serve as headline games, but which early season game gives the Wizards a chance to make a statement on the national spotlight? With the preseason opener set for Oct. 8 against the New York Knicks in Madison Square Garden, all eyes remain centered on the regular season opener at home against the Milwaukee Bucks on Oct. 21.

Plus, the Wizards have been viewed as one of the middling teams in the Eastern Conference by many... are they being undervalued? Should the Wizards view the postseason as a must in 2026-27? Is a play-in considered the floor? We touch on expectations for the Wizards ahead of the new chapter for the organization.

Of course, general manager Will Dawkins and the rest of the front of the front office still have a chance to finalize the rest of the roster, but is the focus on a veteran? The Wizards were joined the Sacramento Kings as teams to show interest in veteran point guard Russell Westbrook with a reported two year offer on the table from Washington, but Westbrook opted to hang up his shoes instead by announcing his retirement last week. Which begs the question - did the Wizards push the future Hall of Fame point guard into retirement? On a more serious note, we dive into what the Wizards could do with the final roster spot. After being linked to veteran DeMar DeRozan in recent weeks, is he a sensible fit along the roster? Does someone like a defensive specialist in Bruce Brown or Summer League star Reece Beekman make sense, especially with Jamir Watkins now sidelined? Is there anyone else still available who can be an attractive fit as the final addition?
