Clutch hits and masterful pitching fueled Alabama's gritty victory, securing a dominant sweep over No. 5 Auburn and extending their impressive home streak.

There’s something different about this Alabama baseball team right now, and if you packed into Sewell-Thomas Stadium this weekend, you felt it.

In front of another sold-out crowd, the Crimson Tide didn’t just beat No. 5 Auburn on Sunday, they outlasted them. In a gritty, tension-filled pitcher’s duel, Alabama scratched across two runs in the eighth inning to secure a 3-1 win and complete a statement sweep over their in-state rival.

Let’s call it what it is: this wasn’t pretty.

It was tough.

It was messy at times.

And it was exactly the kind of game winning teams find a way to finish.

After dropping their first three SEC games, Alabama has flipped the script in a big way, now riding a six-game conference winning streak and stacking seven straight wins overall.

That’s not a fluke.

That’s momentum.

Freshman Myles Upchurch got the start and showed serious poise. The command wasn’t always perfect, four walks and three hit batters prove that, but when it mattered, he delivered.

He held Auburn to just one hit and one earned run across 4.1 innings, escaping multiple jams and keeping Alabama within striking distance.

From there, the bullpen took over, and slammed the door.

Ashton Crowther was electric in relief, giving Alabama exactly what it needed with 2.2 scoreless innings. Matthew Heiberger navigated a tense eighth without giving up a run, and then Hagan Banks did what he’s been doing all season: finished it.

Two strikeouts.

No drama.

Just nails.

That’s a bullpen you trust.

Offensively, Alabama didn’t light up the stat sheet, but they delivered when it counted. Justin Lebron came through with a clutch two-out RBI single in the third to tie things up, and then chaos in the eighth flipped the game. A wild pitch brought Lebron home for the go-ahead run, and Will Plattner followed with a huge two-out RBI knock to add insurance.

That’s situational baseball.

That’s winning baseball.

And let’s not overlook the bigger picture: this is Alabama’s first sweep of Auburn since 2017 and the first time they’ve done it in Tuscaloosa since 2012.

Oh, and they’ve now won 17 straight at home.

The Joe is becoming a problem for opponents.

You can feel it building.

This team is playing with confidence, toughness, and just enough edge to make things uncomfortable for anybody they face next. And with a road trip to Jacksonville State looming, the message is simple:

Enjoy this one, but don’t get comfortable.

Because Alabama baseball looks like it’s just getting started.
