Lemngole achieves unprecedented academic and athletic dominance, securing a second consecutive Scholar-Athlete of the Year award and defending her championships.

Alabama cross country star Doris Lemngole continues to redefine what greatness looks like in college athletics, and this time, it’s not just about winning races.

For the second consecutive year, Lemngole has been named the Women’s Cross Country Scholar-Athlete of the Year by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

It’s an honor that speaks to total excellence. The rare combination of elite performance, discipline, and academic commitment.

And at Alabama, it means even more.

Lemngole now becomes the first Crimson Tide woman since Mercy Chelangat to earn the award in back-to-back seasons, placing her in a category reserved for athletes who dominate both on the course and in the classroom. That consistency doesn’t happen by accident. It’s the result of relentless work, focus, and a standard she clearly refuses to lower.

Academically, Lemngole has been just as impressive as she is competitively. Majoring in sport management, she’s maintained a stellar 3.90 GPA while balancing the demands of championship-level training and competition. Her name has become a familiar sight on the Dean’s List and President’s List, recognition that reinforces the kind of student-athlete Alabama prides itself on developing.

Over the course of the 2024–25 athletic year, Lemngole swept every SEC Scholar-Athlete honor available, earning academic recognition across cross country, indoor track, and outdoor track. That kind of sweep doesn’t just reflect intelligence, it reflects preparation, time management, and an unwavering commitment to excellence in every setting.

And make no mistake: the results on the course matched the work behind the scenes.

During the 2025 cross country season, Lemngole successfully defended both her SEC individual title and her national championship, proving that last year’s success was no fluke. She didn’t just repeat, she reinforced her place at the top of the sport.

She has also earned multiple All-Academic honors at both the conference and national level, further solidifying her reputation as one of the most complete athletes in collegiate athletics today.

At Alabama, success has always been about more than just winning. It’s about building champions who lead with discipline, integrity, and purpose. Doris Lemngole embodies all of it. She’s not just setting records, she’s setting the standard.

And she’s not done yet.
