According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, running back Jam Miller and defensive lineman Tim Keenan III are not expected to playna .
For Miller, the setback comes at a frustrating time. The junior tailback has yet to make his season debut after suffering an upper-body injury during Alabama’s second preseason scrimmage. His return had been highly anticipated following a breakout campaign in 2024. Last season, Miller rushed for 668 yards and seven touchdowns, cementing himself as a reliable part of Alabama’s offense. Known for his blend of speed and power, he gave the Tide a dynamic weapon who could pick up tough yards inside but also break free for big gains.
On the defensive side, Keenan has also been sidelined through the first stretch of the 2025 season. The redshirt senior was expected to be one of Alabama’s leaders up front, bringing experience and toughness to the defensive line. In 2024, he was a steady presence, recording 40 total tackles and 2.5 sacks. Over his career, Keenan has compiled 79 tackles and 3.5 sacks, showing consistent improvement and reliability in the trenches.
Head coach Kalen DeBoer has stressed the importance of the “next man up” mentality throughout his tenure, and this weekend will be another test of that philosophy. While the Tide will once again miss the proven production of Miller and Keenan, the matchup against Wisconsin provides an opportunity for emerging players like Alabama running back Richard Young to continue showcasing their talent the depth the Tide has on the sideline.
Kickoff between Alabama and Wisconsin is today at 11am CT, with the Crimson Tide aiming to keep their momentum alive after beating ULM 73-0 last Saturday in Tuscaloosa.
This game will be a BIG test for Alabama after losing their season opener against Florida State which not only created a lot of questions surrounding the program, but also made Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer's seat a little hot.
If Alabama beats Wisconsin in convincing fashion, the Tide won’t just prove they’re on a comeback mission after Week One — they’ll also show that even with key injuries, Alabama remains one of the most resilient and dangerous teams in college football.
