On Tuesday, Michigan true freshman transfer offensive lineman Kaden Strayhorn officially committed to the Crimson Tide, confirming the news to On3 Sports and shortly afterward on his own social media.
Strayhorn, listed at 6-foot-3, 318 pounds, will arrive in Tuscaloosa with four full years of eligibility remaining after redshirting during his lone season at Michigan. His commitment came quickly following an official visit to Alabama on January 5, signaling mutual interest and a clear vision for his future in crimson and white.
In his announcement, Strayhorn posted, “Right back where it started, only better. Philippians 4:13,” a message that resonated with Alabama fans and hinted at a sense of purpose behind his decision.
Before enrolling at Michigan, Strayhorn developed into a high-level prospect at IMG Academy, where he spent three seasons after beginning his high school career at Detroit Catholic Central. At IMG, he primarily played right tackle, showcasing strength, athleticism, and versatility against elite competition. He also shared the field with current Alabama offensive lineman Michael Carroll, giving him familiarity with the Tide’s culture and expectations.
Football runs deep in the Strayhorn family. Kaden’s father, Jason Strayhorn, played center at Michigan State from 1994-1998, where he was coached by none other than Nick Saban. While Strayhorn did not see game action at Michigan other than against Central Michigan on September 13th, the redshirt year allowed him to adjust to the college level, add strength, and learn the demands of Big Ten football.
