The 49-18 win was an impressive one for Kalen DeBoer's team, giving Alabama another win in SEC play. The Crimson Tide now sit with a record of 4-0 on the season, sitting ranked in the top 10 in the nation.
Alabama dominated the Gamecocks, jumping out to a massive first-quarter lead. And from there, the rest of the game was easily theirs for the taking.
Throughout the game, it never felt as if Alabama wasn't in control, or that the Gamecocks had much momentum to get back into the contest. The Crimson Tide did an excellent job on both sides of the ball, showing how explosive this team can be when firing on all cylinders.
Following the game, college football analyst David Cobb of CBS Sports handed out letter grades to each team. In this, Alabama was given an "A-" for its performance against the Gamecocks.
It was an impressive win all around for the Crimson Tide, with the team outmatching South Carolina almost at every turn. While there were a few defensive lapses in the contest, the performance from Alabama was fairly steady throughout.
But arguably the most impressive part of the win was the play from quarterback Keelon Russell, who put together an electric outing. Russell threw for 364 yards and three touchdowns, looking very much in control of the offensive attack.
The signal-caller also rushed for 35 yards and one touchdown, continuing his dual-threat abilities on the field. Overall, it was a strong performance from Russell and one that the Crimson Tide had been looking for from the young player.
If Russell is able to play at this capacity going forward, the Crimson Tide could be very tough to take down. Alabama has been wanting to see his full capabilities on display, and against a fierce SEC opponent, Russell showed out.
The schedule continues to be fairly tough for the Crimson Tide following the South Carolina game, as the team will be heading on the road to face Mississippi State. The Bulldogs have seen somewhat of a resurgence this year, making this a potential trap game for Alabama.
Following this game against Mississippi State, Alabama has a showdown with the Georgia Bulldogs at home. This game always plays into how the SEC shakes out, meaning that the Crimson Tide will need to be ready for one of the best teams in the country.
