The Alabama Crimson Tide could hit the Auburn Tigers where it hurts in the transfer portal.

The Alabama Crimson Tide certainly seem loaded at wide receiver right now, with Germie Bernard, Ryan Williams and Isaiah Horton littering their receiving corps.

However, Bernard is heading into the NFL Draft, Horton might follow and Williams has actually been a serious disappointment this season after briefly rivaling Ohio State's Jeremiah Smith in 2024.

That's not to say that Williams won't take a major step forward in 2026, and Alabama does have Lotzeir Brooks, Derek Meadows and Rico Scott in tow for next season, as well. Heck, the Crimson Tide also landed Cederian Morgan on early national signing day.

But Kalen DeBoer's club does not have a whole lot of proven talent at the position, which means that Alabama could be active in the transfer portal in trying to add another wide out.

We already discussed why the Crimson Tide should pursue Michigan State's Nick Marsh, but how about Auburn burner Malcolm Simmons?

Simmons has revealed his plans to enter the transfer portal, a rather crushing blow to a Tigers squad that just posted its fifth straight losing campaign.

That was no fault of Simmons, though, who hauled in 25 receptions for 457 yards and a couple of touchdowns in 2025, good for a hefty average of 18.3 yards per catch.

Now imagine if he had a better quarterback than Jackson Arnold getting him the football?

There is a chance that Ty Simpson could return to Tuscaloosa next season, but even if he doesn't, the Crimson Tide have numerous enticing potential candidates to relieve him in 2026.

Essentially, you can certainly trust Alabama more than Auburn at this stage, so Simmons should seriously weigh the possibility of taking his talents to the Tigers' biggest rival.

A former four-star prospect, Simmons has been largely underutilized at Auburn and would almost surely find more success with the Crimson Tide.

Imagine putting Simmons alongside of Williams next year? Whoever is playing quarterback for DeBoer's squad would have two lethal deep threats at his disposal.

This isn't just about Alabama stealing a player from Auburn. Simmons would legitimately comprise a good fit for the Tide, so it would not be the least bit surprising to see DeBoer pursue him in the portal this winter.
