Alabama Moves Up CFB Power Rankings Ahead of LSU Showdown

The Alabama Crimson Tide still have everything to play for as the team prepares for a tough game this week.

Alabama will be heading out on the road for a big game against the LSU Tigers, giving each side a chance to make a statement. The Crimson Tide and Tigers are both coming off byes last week, making each side well-rested for the massive game.

The Crimson Tide will be coming into the game with a record of 6-2 on the season, with them winning the last time out. Alabama was able to bounce back against Texas A&M two weeks ago, with star quarterback Keelon Russell putting together a strong game.

As for the Tigers, they will also be coming into the game with a record of 6-2 on the season so far. LSU has played well under new head coach Lane Kiffin, who the Crimson Tide know very well from his time with the program.

With the game being played in Baton Rouge, the Crimson Tide have a big challenge ahead of them this week. Alabama has played in tough games before this season, but Tiger Stadium is one of the tougher places to play in the entire sport.

In a new college football power rankings from analyst Joel Reuter of Bleacher Report, the Crimson Tide moved up a spot despite being on a bye week. Alabama was ranked as the No. 12 team, but now they are coming in as the No. 11 team ahead of the game against the Tigers.

The contest with LSU could determine everything for the Crimson Tide, with it being the least favorable game left on the schedule. Following the matchup this coming weekend, the Crimson Tide will play the final three games against Vanderbilt, Chattanooga, and Auburn.

The games against Vanderbilt and Chattanooga should be much easier wins for this team, as long as the group takes care of business. But the game against Auburn could be tricky, even with them underperforming this season.

If Alabama can get the win over LSU this week, it could set them up very well for an appearance in the College Football Playoff. But a loss could pretty much end the hope of making the playoff since the team would have three losses on the season.

Kickoff for the game between the Crimson Tide and Tigers is set for 12:30 p.m. PT/3:30 p.m. ET.
