Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson is an interesting prospect ahead of the draft.

Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Ty Simpson will have a tough decision to make in the coming months. Simpson could declare for the NFL Draft or return to Alabama for another season.

The 22-year-old has had stretches where he's been one of the best quarterbacks in college football this season, but he's been inconsistent. That has dropped his stock heading into the draft, but he still could go in the first round.

Simpson has completed 64.3 percent of his passes for 3,268 yards, 26 touchdowns, and five interceptions. He has also rushed for 98 yards and two touchdowns.

In ESPN Field Yates' latest mock draft, the Los Angeles Rams take Simpson with the 31st overall pick. This could be a great landing spot for Simpson, as it would allow him to develop behind MVP frontrunner Matthew Stafford.

Stafford is having the best season of his career, as he's completed 66.7 percent of his passes for 3,354 yards, 35 touchdowns, and only four interceptions. The 37-year-old quarterback is under contract in 2026, but he's likely near the end of his career.

In the 2025 NFL Draft, the Rams made a trade with the Atlanta Falcons, acquiring their first-round pick in 2026. That gives Los Angeles two first-round picks in the draft, giving them the opportunity to draft Stafford's heir.

Head coach Sean McVay is an offensive guru and is known for getting the most out of his players, particularly on offense.

This would be the perfect landing spot for Simpson, as he could learn under Stafford for a year or two and develop in McVay's offensive system.

However, Simpson could return to Alabama, as he was originally projected to be a top-10 pick and has fallen over the last couple of months.

If he returns, he could look to have a more consistent season in 2026 and get picked higher in the draft.

Simpson will have to make his decision of returning to Alabama or declaring for the NFL Draft in the ensuing months. The decision could define the rest of his career, but if he heads to the NFL, landing with the Rams would be ideal.
