Brooke Wells and Ana Roman ignite Alabama's offense, sweeping SEC honors after a dominant road series. The Crimson Tide bats are firing on all cylinders.

Momentum continues to build for Alabama softball, and the Southeastern Conference took notice this week.

After opening SEC play with an impressive three-game sweep on the road against Ole Miss, the Crimson Tide picked up two major conference honors. Veteran standout Brooke Wells was named SEC Player of the Week, while freshman Ana Roman earned SEC Freshman of the Week honors following a big weekend at the plate.

Simply put, the Alabama bats were alive in Oxford, and these two were right in the middle of it.

Wells was nearly impossible to get out throughout the series. The Alabama slugger reached base in 10 of her 12 plate appearances, setting the tone early and often for the Crimson Tide offense. She opened the series with a dominant performance, going 3-for-3 with a home run and a double, and she followed that up with another perfect 3-for-3 showing in game two.

By the time the weekend wrapped up, Wells had put together an eye-popping stat line. She finished the series 7-for-9 at the plate, good for a .778 batting average, while also drawing three walks, scoring three runs, and driving in four RBIs. Every time Alabama needed a spark offensively, Wells seemed to deliver it.

While Wells led the charge, freshman Ana Roman showed that the future of Alabama softball is incredibly bright.

Roman played with the kind of confidence you love to see from a young player stepping into SEC competition. She recorded at least one hit in all three games of the series and finished the weekend 4-for-7 at the plate, batting .571. Her biggest moment came in the second game of the series when she drove in four runs, including a three-run home runthat helped put the Rebels away and secure the series momentum for Alabama.

Roman reached base seven times in ten plate appearances, showing patience and poise beyond her years.

The recognition marks the first SEC Player of the Week award for Alabama this season, while Roman becomes the second Crimson Tide freshman to earn the conference honor, joining Kaitlyn Pallozzi, who received the award back in February.

Overall, Alabama has now collected five SEC weekly honors this season, with pitchers Vic Moten and Jocelyn Briskipreviously earning Pitcher of the Week recognition.

That kind of balance, dominant pitching paired with a red-hot lineup, is exactly what makes this Alabama team so dangerous as conference play heats up.

If the opening weekend of SEC play is any indication, this Crimson Tide squad isn’t just competing in the conference.

They’re coming for it.

And right now, Alabama softball is sending a message loud and clear.

Roll Tide.
