Crimson Tide offense ignites, freshman power shines, and pitching locks down to complete a dominant series sweep.
If you’re looking for a team that’s playing complete, dominant softball right now, look no further than Alabama.
On Saturday afternoon at Rhoads Stadium, the Crimson Tide didn’t just win, they made a statement.
Alabama closed out its weekend with a 13-0 run-rule shutout over North Dakota State in five innings, finishing off a clean series sweep and reminding everyone exactly what this team is capable of when it’s clicking.
From the very first inning, Alabama set the tone. Three runs crossed early, and from that point on, there was never a question about how this game was going to go. The Tide scored in every inning they stepped to the plate, applying constant pressure and never giving North Dakota State a chance to breathe.
What stands out the most?
This wasn’t just one player carrying the load, this was a full lineup effort.
Eight different Alabama players recorded hits, and the production came from everywhere. That’s the kind of depth that wins you games in June, not just March.
Salen Hawkins delivered a big-time performance, going 2-for-3 with three RBIs and setting the tone in key moments. But the headline belongs to freshman Ambrey Taylor, who had her breakout moment with her first career multi-home run game. That’s the kind of confidence-building performance that can take a young player, and a team, to another level.
And speaking of power, Alabama is starting to stack numbers in a serious way. The Tide now sits at 63 home runs on the season, already tying a top-10 mark in program history.
Let that sink in.
This offense isn’t just good, it’s historically dangerous, and they’re not done yet.
The future is shining bright too. Freshman Holly Beth Brooks picked up her first collegiate hit, driving in two runs in the process, a moment she won’t forget and one that speaks to how this program continues to develop talent across the board.
In the circle, it was just as dominant.
Kaitlyn Pallozzi remained perfect on the season, controlling the game with confidence and composure. The bullpen followed suit, locking things down and preserving the shutout with a complete team effort defensively.
After the game, head coach Patrick Murphy said it best:
“I want to thank North Dakota State for making the trip down here. We appreciate them coming to Tuscaloosa. I think our pitching and defense were outstanding, and we had some really good at-bats that I was pleased with. It was a fun two game series to watch. Today, we celebrated another amazing senior, Abby Duchscherer. She's not only incredibly loyal but has also had such a positive impact on this program.”
That last part matters.
This program isn’t just about wins, it’s about culture, leadership, and players who leave a legacy.
Right now, Alabama softball has all of it.
And if they keep playing like this?
The rest of the country better start paying attention.
Roll Tide.
