Crimson Tide pitchers ignite a perfect game while hitters unleash a power surge, dominating both opponents in a resounding doubleheader sweep.
This wasn’t just another midweek sweep, it was a statement.
Alabama softball didn’t just win twice on Wednesday, they put the rest of the country on notice. Between a historic performance in the circle and an offense that simply refused to slow down, the Crimson Tide showed exactly why they’ve been one of the most dangerous teams in the nation all season long.
Game one against Jacksonville State had its moments early. The Gamecocks didn’t back down, trading runs and forcing Alabama to actually settle in. But once the Tide found their rhythm, it was over, and it ended quickly.
Jena Young delivered the turning point, launching a three-run home run in the fifth inning that flipped the game for good. From there, Alabama did what great teams do, they piled on. Four more runs in the sixth put the finishing touches on a 10-3 win that felt far more dominant than the early innings suggested.
In the circle, Vic Moten was electric.
Twelve strikeouts in five innings.
Command, control, and confidence, she set the tone and never let Jacksonville State get comfortable.
Then came game two.
And that’s where things went from impressive to historic.
Jocelyn Briski, Alea Johnson, and Braya Hodges combined for a five-inning perfect game against North Alabama.
No hits.
No walks.
No mistakes.
Just dominance from start to finish. It marked the 11th perfect game in program history, and incredibly, the second for Alabama this season.
Let that sink in.
And while the pitching staff was flawless, the offense matched that energy inning for inning.
Brooke Wells put together one of the most complete performances you’ll see all season: going 4-for-6 on the day with six runs scored and three home runs.
That’s not just production, that’s taking over a game… or in this case, an entire day.
Alexis Pupillo stayed steady as ever, blasting her 12th home run of the season and extending her on-base streak to 29 games. Consistency like that is what makes this lineup so dangerous from top to bottom.
After the sweep, head coach Patrick Murphy summed it up perfectly:
"It was an awesome night. I've said it from day one, the best way to respect an opponent is to play to your potential, and we did that tonight against both teams. Both teams are great in-state opponents. I thought our batters were terrific all night long and you've got to give it to the three pitchers in the second game with the perfect game. It was a great night and everybody on the team did something good. Their confidence should be sky high with this performance."
And he’s right, because this wasn’t just about talent. This was about execution, depth, and a team playing with confidence.
Right now, Alabama softball looks like a team that’s not just winning games, they’re building momentum.
And if Wednesday night was any indication, this team is far from done making noise.
