According to Hayes Fawcett of Rivals, the top quarterback of the 2027 freshman class, Elijah Haven has secured six official visits to schools – with Alabama being one of them.
Rivals has marked Haven as a five-star quarterback, while both ESPN and 247Sports have him listed as a four-star. As he continues to develop and get older though, a consensus five-star ranking isn’t out of the question.
Head coach Kalen DeBoer and his staff have been doing their due diligence to create a heavy pipeline in the quarterback room. Depending on how this season pans out with current quarterback Ty Simpson, the remaining QBs are Austin Mack and five-star Keelon Russell.
Beyond that, Alabama received two quarterback commits for 2026 in four-star Jett Thomalia and three-star Tayden Kaawa.
Haven fits the bill of a DeBoer-style quarterback. All you need to do is look at the stature of both Mack and Russell and you can come to that conclusion.
He’s a massive quarterback, standing at 6-foot-5 who has tremendous athleticism.
Andrew Ivins, the Director of Scouting for 247Sports analyzed Haven’s game, and you can see why he’s on Alabama’s radar.
“Supersized quarterback with first-round pick potential if he can put it all together. Possesses an excellent combination of strength and athleticism to go along with impressive competitive drive and football character.”
He continued, “Excels at getting the ball out quickly to the perimeter and is one of the best in the class when it comes to challenging defenses vertically as he throws targets open and hits them in stride with touch.”
Currently, Rivals has listed the University of Florida as the favorite to obtain Haven’s services, but never count out the Tide.
Initially, Russell was committed to SMU, before DeBoer managed to flip him and sign him.
Once a player commits to a program, it’s by no means the end of the recruiting process. The only time you can fully release the push is when that player puts pen to paper.
But the sole fact that Haven has included Alabama in his top-six plans to visit Tuscaloosa is a massive win for DeBoer’s program.
Just get him on the grounds, and show what being a member of the Crimson Tide is all about.
The rest? That’s up to the football gods.
