Former Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Jalen Hurts has become one of the NFL's most polarizing figures.
A couple of years ago, former Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Jalen Hurts was the toast of the NFL after leading the Philadelphia Eagles to a Super Bowl victory over the Kansas City Chiefs.
Well, kind of.
Hurts did win a Super Bowl, and he did play well in the win, but there remained some who questioned just how good of a quarterback he actually was.
That faction has now increased exponentially after an uneven campaign for Hurts in 2025, and Hurts hasn't done himself any favors early on this season, either.
The most recent example was Monday night, when the Eagles were hammered by a Chicago Bears team missing Caleb Williams by a score of 27-7. Hurts went 16-for-25 with 153 yards and an interception and went viral for the wrong reason after the game due to an awkward moment in a press conference.
At one point in the contest, the Alabama alum absorbed an illegal hit along the sideline from a Bears defender and had to be evaluated for a concussion. Andy Dalton briefly entered the game for Hurts and threw one pass ... which was picked off in the end zone.
Dalton said he apologized to Hurts afterward, but when reporters asked Hurts about Dalton's apology, all Hurts said flatly was, "It's just a part of the game. It's part of the game. It's part of the game."
Naturally, many did not take too kindly to Hurts' reaction, accusing him of being arrogant and not taking enough responsibility for his own turnover during the second half.
It's hardly the first time Hurts has been criticized for his demeanor, and it almost certainly won't be his last.
Last season, a big topic of discussion was the souring relationship between Hurts and wide receiver A.J. Brown, which ultimately led to Brown being traded back in June. While Brown was certainly no angel, many felt that Hurts exacerbated the situation due to his perceived pompous conduct.
So what really is the deal with Hurts? And is it reaching a point where he may ultimately have to fight for his long-term future in Philadelphia?
Hurts spent three seasons with Alabama between 2016 and 2018, ultimately losing his job to Tua Tagovailoa. He then transferred to Oklahoma for his final collegiate season and finished second in Heisman Trophy voting.
The 28-year-old was ultimately selected by the Eagles in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft.
