The Alabama Crimson Tide have been hit with a concerning outlook from notable analyst Paul Finebaum.
Last season, the Alabama Crimson Tide and head coach Kalen DeBoer were able to overcome a rollercoaster season to get into the College Football Playoff.
Not only did the Crimson Tide make it into the playoff, they also pulled off a tough win on the road against the Oklahoma Sooners. Unfortunately, they were quickly dismantled and eliminated by Curt Cignetti and the Indiana Hoosiers.
Despite the loss to Indiana, Alabama had a lot of reason to be happy about its season.
When all was said and done, the Crimson Tide went 11-4 in their second season under DeBoer. However, there are still a lot of opinions and predictions swirling about the future of Alabama football.
A new opinion from polarizing college football analyst Paul Finebaum has offered a concerning outlook for the Crimson Tide. Finebaum isn't sure how much longer Alabama will remain among college football's elite.
“I don’t know how much longer Alabama will be among the elite,” Finebaum said. “But last year they were up there.”
One of the big reasons for the concern surrounding the Crimson Tide has come on the recruiting front. As of right now, Alabama's 2027 recruiting class is ranked just No. 71 in the nation by 247 Sports. That ranking isn't going to cut it.
DeBoer made it clear that the Crimson Tide need to continue evolving in the ever-changing college football landscape.
“We’ve got to continue to grow,” DeBoer said. “There’s no question. We’ve got to continue to adjust to the times. We’ve got to continue to push the envelope. We need the support of anyone that wants to be a part of it.”
He also suggested that Alabama needs to have more NIL money to work with.
“And I think more and more people do understand that you can have an awesome staff, but you’ve got to have the NIL support to be able to get the players because they’re the ones that make the plays on Saturdays.”
Only time will tell what the future holds for the Crimson Tide. DeBoer and company are coming up short on the recruiting trail right now, but things can change quickly.
Finebaum isn't sure that Alabama will be able to overcome all of the changes to the sport. But, there is still time for the Crimson Tide and DeBoer to figure things out and get the program back on the right track.
