Hall of Fame Series game did not disappoint in Tucson, Arizona.
Arizona continues to show why they are sitting at #1 in the country. No matter the opponent, the consistency on defense is always there. Coming out on top with a 68-45 victory over the Aztecs at home.
Arizona has a presence in the paint that is physical and strong, that SDSU could not compete with. Holding the Aztecs to only 45 points is impressive thing to do.
With the win the Wildcats are now 11-0 on the season. This was Arizona's sixth consecutive win by at least 20 points, a level of dominance we have not seen from this program in decades.
The Aztecs started the first half with a ton of energy and a game plan that seemed to be working. Around mid-way through the first half SDSU found themselves with a 27-20 lead over the Wildcats.
That would be the last time the Aztecs would have the lead. As one would expect the Wildcats went on an 8-0 run of their own and retook the lead, going up 28-27 into halftime.
Once the second half started, the Wildcats never looked back. Shutting the Aztec offense down and holding them to only 18 points in the second half.
San Diego State University only made one three pointer on fourteen attempts the whole game.
The Wildcats dominated the boards, out rebounding the Aztecs 52-28. Turning most of San Diego State's misses into easy transition, fast break points.
Arizona's forward Tobe Awaka was very dominant on the boards, pulling in a team-high 15 rebounds.
This was a strong performance for the Wildcats, especially with Big 12 play coming up on the schedule. To play on neutral grounds and hold a worthy opponent to only 45 points in a game, is no joke.
