Arkansas softball pitcher Robyn Herron throws no-hitter, third in her UA career cover image

Robyn Herron is now tied for the most no-hitters thrown by any Arkansas softball pitcher

Arkansas softball is ranked No. 8 in the country. The Hogs beat Northwestern 6-0 on Friday at the Razorback Invitational. Robyn Herron made the win especially memorable and historic. WholeHog Sports has more:

"Robyn Herron submitted her latest entry to the Arkansas softball record book in the first home start of her senior season. Herron tossed her third career no-hitter and the No. 8 Razorbacks blanked Northwestern 6-0 to cap Day 1 of the Razorback Invitational on Friday evening at Bogle Park.

"She capped her no-hit performance with a swinging strikeout, and ripped off her pitchers mask while slapping into her glove in celebration. Herron was quickly swarmed in the circle by teammates.

“'I feel like I've been wanting that for a while, and I finally got it,' Herron said. 'I'm just very happy.'

"Herron tied Heather Schlichtman (2001-04) and Mary Haff (2018-22) for most no-hitters thrown in program history."

The full and final pitching line for Herron:  7 IP, 12 K, 0 H, 1 BB, 1 HP

Herron did allow baserunners, as you can see. She did pitch a perfect game two years ago in 2024. She has been an anchor for this program and a loyal Razorback, making her a fan favorite. She definitely rewarded Hog fans on Friday.

Herron dominated Coastal Carolina a few weeks ago and has been at the heart of a pitching staff which has flourished  to start the season.

Herron isn't the only pitcher who is dealing for Arkansas, however. Saylor Timmerman blanked Southeast Missouri State earlier on Friday, winning 6-0 by pitching a complete-game shutout, striking out 10. Arkansas' two wins on Friday lifted the Razorbacks to a 10-1 record for the season. Herron is a bonafide ace, but Timmerman is as well. With multiple high-end pitching options, the Hogs are well-positioned to make a run at the Women's College World Series this season. They are certainly playing like a team good enough to climb to the top tier of the college softball landscape in 2026.

In other Arkansas sports news to pass along on a very busy weekend:

Women's gymnast Morgan Price delivered a perfect 10 on the vault at a meet against Kentucky which finished in a tie: 197.125 points for both teams. Price's perfect 10 is the first in Arkansas gymnastics history, a tremendous achievement. Congratulations to Morgan and UA gymnastics!

Finally, Arkansas basketball player Karter Knox had a surgical procedure to repair a torn left meniscus. No timetable has been set for his return to the lineup. Knox's instant offense and 3-point shooting will be missed, though UA has to focus on defense more than anything else if it wants to make a deep run in March.
