The road to the Women's College World Series begins this weekend.

The Arkansas Razorbacks and 63 other college softball teams now know where they will go for the first weekend of the 2026 NCAA Tournament. The NCAA regionals are set, with 16 teams hosting the double-elimination, three-day tournaments for the right to go to the super regionals the following weekend, with a Women's College World Series berth on the line.

Arkansas will host a regional this coming weekend in Fayetteville. The Hogs are the No. 2 seed in their region of the NCAA Tournament bracket. They will be joined in their regional by another national seed, No. 7 Washington.

In one opening game of the Fayetteville Regional this weekend, Arkansas will play Fordham. Washington, as the other seeded team, will play South Florida in the other opening game on Day 1. The winners and losers of those games will meet on Day 2. The loser of the winners' bracket game will then play the winner of the losers' bracket game. The winner of that elimination game will have to beat the winners' bracket team twice.

Should Arkansas get out of the regional this weekend and advance to the super regional round, the Hogs would host the event since they are a higher national seed than the other team next to them in this section of the bracket. That other team is Duke, the No. 3 seed in Arkansas' region. (Nebraska is the No. 1 seed in Arkansas' region. If both teams make it through the super regionals, they would meet in the opening round of the Women's College World Series.)

Duke will host its regional this weekend in Durham, North Carolina. The other seed in Duke's regional is No. 6 Arizona. In the opening games this coming weekend, Duke will play Howard and Arizona will play Marshall.

Nebraska will be a very tough matchup in the Women's College World Series if Arkansas gets that far ... but we can wait for that scenario. First things first: Arkansas softball has to take care of business. The Hogs know the road to the WCWS runs through Fayetteville. Two winning weekends will bring Arkansas to the big show and give this team an immensely successful season.

The table is set. Arkansas earned a top-eight national ranking and the right to host both regionals and super regionals. That marks a very successful regular season. Now the Hogs need to translate their regular-season reward into postseason prosperity. We will see if this team can handle the heat on the opening weekend of the NCAA Tournament.
