When the 2026 college football season begins, the Auburn Tigers will be under the direction of Alex Golesh.
Auburn Athletics Director brought in Golesh less than 24 hours after the Tigers' 2025 season came to an end, and Golesh didn't hesitate to take the jump.
Golesh is appreciative of the opportunity and is excited to give Auburn everything he has.
"I can’t tell you how appreciative my family is of the opportunity," Golesh said. "I can’t tell you how grateful I am to be standing here today. I want to thank Dr. (Chris) Roberts for the warm welcome and the opportunity. I want to thank John (Cohen) for his integrity through the search, for him doing it the right way, for the timing of it all to work out the right way, and from the start to the end doing it with the highest class and the integrity that he promised from the beginning he would do it with."
Golesh expressed how he wants the attention to go to the program instead of himself. He doesn't want to take any of the attention away from his players.
“The Auburn Creed. Work, hard work," Golesh said. "I believe in Auburn and love it. John (Cohen) tells the story of my family coming to the U.S., and I told the staff I hate talking about myself. I don’t ever want to stand up here and talk about me. I want to stand up here and talk about this program, Auburn University and, more importantly, our players. For the next couple of minutes I’ll go through it, and then from here on out it’ll be about the program, the team and everything that Auburn University stands for."
Golesh has quite the extensive list of things to check off before the 2026 season gets underway, but being at Auburn and having the opportunity to coach at the highest level of college football is something he is incredibly appreciative of.
