The Auburn Tigers managed to snap their four-game losing streak by picking up a win over the Arkansas Razorbacks on the road last week.
A large part of the Tigers finding their way into the win column in SEC play for the first time this season is believed to be head coach Hugh Freeze and company turning to Ashton Daniels at the quarterback position, his first time seeing the field as a member of the Tigers.
As a result, Daniels has been named the starter for Auburn's home contest against the Kentucky Wildcats.
Daniels went 6-of-8 passing for 77 yards in the Tigers' road win over the Razorbacks last week. He replaced Jackson Arnold — who has been Auburn's starting quarterback in every game so far this season — after he went 7-of-12 passing for 73 yards, one touchdown and one interception.
Calls for a change at the signal caller spot have grown increasingly loud in recent weeks as the Tigers have struggled to find their rhythm on the offensive side of the ball.
Prior to joining Auburn via the transfer portal during the offseason, Daniels spent three seasons as a member of the Stanford Cardinal.
Throughout his three seasons in Palo Alto, California, Daniels went 367-of-604 passing for 3,986 yards, 21 touchdowns and 20 interceptions.
Coming out of Buford High School in Georgia, Daniels was a 3-star recruit, the No. 994 player nationally, the No. 64 quarterback and the No. 101 player in Georgia in the class of 2022, according to 247Sports.
Daniels will attempt to give the Tigers' offense a spark and help lead them to their second win in a row and improve their record to 5-4, also providing them with their first home SEC win of the season.
Kickoff between Auburn and Kentucky is set for 6:30 p.m. CT and SEC Network will carry the broadcast.
