The Auburn Tigers' defense has held the team in every game they have played this season.
The unit has not received much help on the offensive side of the ball, however. Despite this, the Tigers remain focused on the task at hand defensively.
Additionally, the Tigers are confident things will work themselves out if they stay focused and keep giving the offense chances to make an impact.
"I just think of it as I’ve got to do my job," Defensive lineman Amaris Williams said. "Just doing your job, it’s the small things that you’ve got to do for a win for the team. I feel like if I keep doing my job, keep doing my job, eventually those plays will come to me that I want. I’ll be able to make those plays. Once I start doing that, I feel like I’ll be able to play free and make extra plays, the plays I know I can make to help my team out."
The Tigers were able to bring Missouri's ground attack to a hault, particularly slowing down running back Ahmad Hardy.
Williams elaborated on what led to Auburn's success stopping the run and forcing Missouri to find other ways to move the ball.
"It was just playing vertical front side, just playing flat on the backside," Williams said. "That's really what shut it down. After about two or three tries, they stopped running stretch. We shut it down early, you feel me, so they wouldn't be able to do it. And then that's just what we want to drag into a lot of other games. Just shut down what a certain team is good at early and then do stuff they're not really used to and just adjust off of that going into deeper in the game."
Williams and the Tigers' defense will be looking to make another impact against Arkansas on Saturday at 11:45 a.m. CT on SEC Network.
