After Auburn's home loss against the Georgia Bulldogs last week, the Tigers felt as though they had let another winnable contest get away from them
That has been a recurring theme for Auburn since conference play began, and it is doing everything possible to find a way to come out on top and bring an end to the losing streak.
Auburn did manage to get the Georgia contest started off on the right track, something head coach Hugh Freeze made sure his team was aware of.
Offensive lineman Dillon Wade described just how highly Freeze thought of the Tigers' early performance.
"In our team meeting, coach Freeze said we looked like a top 10 offense and on the defensive side of the ball," Wade said. "We looked like one of the best in the nation in the first 25 minutes of the game."
Wade is confident the level of play the Tigers showed against Georgia early is symbolic of what the team is able to accomplish.
"We have to have the same intensity and intent that we had in the first 25 minutes of the Georgia game, and we have to go out there and be our great selves," Wade said.
It's a mental battle for Auburn at this point. The team knows what it is capable of, but it needs to find a way to put all the pieces together and come out on top, or the 2025 season could quickly become a lost cause.
If the Tigers can remain focused, however, 2025 could be a significant step in the right direction for them.
For Wade and the rest of the team, there is one goal in mind for Saturday.
"We would like to win the game this time," Wade said.
Auburn will have a chance to do exactly that on Saturday when it hosts No. 16 Missouri. Kickoff is set for 6:45 p.m. CT, and SEC Network will carry the broadcast.
"We just need to win. That’s it," Wade said.
