As the season has gone along, there has been one aspect of this Auburn football team that has stood out over everything else: its defense is significantly ahead of its offense.
While the level of play the Tigers have seen from their defense has been impressive, members of the unit believe the best is still yet to come.
Defensive lineman Dallas Walker IV has been an important piece of Auburn's defensive line during his first season as a Tiger, and while he knows there are still improvements to make, he believes the energy within the unit is good.
"It has been good," Walker said. "It has been fun seeing all the guys compete. We just come out at practice every day and lift each other up. Just keep competing and flying around."
One part of Auburn's defense that has stood out to Walker this season is the way the young players have performed.
Watching their growth and development has impressed Walker along with their desire and effort to improve.
"I have seen a lot," Walker said of the performance from young players. "They are growing a lot of confidence. They just play hard. They come out every day and get to work. They just try to learn. They come out and grind every day. They look up to the older guys and we try to set a good example for them."
Walker is also appreciative of his teammates on the other side of the ball, as Auburn's offense played a role in the win over Arkansas.
"I just want to give credit to our offense. They did a good job of managing the clock and managing the time of possession," Walker said. We got to keep a lot of guys fresh and keep rolling and keep the energy up on the defensive side."
