Auburn's head coach believes he has found the program's quarterback of the future.

While the wins have not come in an overwhelming amount during Hugh Freeze's tenure as the head coach of the Auburn Tigers so far, he has had plenty on the recruiting trail.

Freeze has landed the commitments of numerous highly-touted prospects, but one of the most exciting players he has brought in is Deuce Knight, an elite quarterback from Lucedale, Mississippi.

While Knight has not seen the field much this season, Freeze highlighted how impactful he believes Knight will be for the Tigers in seasons to come.

“I think I’ve said this publicly," Freeze said. "I mean it, I think Deuce (Knight) is the future of this program."

Freeze explained how he wants to avoid putting too much on Knight's plate too soon into his college career, but said he would still find opportunities for him to get his chances this season.

"I don’t know that it’s fair to throw him in that right now," Knight said. "He probably would handle it great. I’m certainly not saying we won’t. He’ll get a few reps, too. It’s really hard, really hard to try to do that with three guys right now."

Freeze is confident in Knight's ability to be a top performer for the team in seasons to come, as his arm is like few he has seen.

"I do firmly believe there’s not many arms like Deuce Knight, and he’s got an elite one," Freeze said. "Obviously, there’s a lot of other things that go into playing the position of quarterback and he’s quickly becoming better at understanding all of those. I can’t wait to see when he does get his opportunity.”

Knight is one of the most talked about players that Freeze has managed to land at Auburn. If he develops properly, Knight could make a name for himself in Auburn history books, joining the storied quarterbacs who have worn orange and blue in the past.
