The No. 24 Auburn Tigers now sit at 3-0 after surviving a third-quarter push from the South Alabama Jaguars, coming out on top 31-15.
A three-touchdown second quarter set Auburn up for success inside Jordan-Hare Stadium, although it will have plenty to work on ahead of its SEC opener against Oklahoma next week.
Which Tigers improved their stock against South Alabama and who has some work to do against the Sooners?
Jeremiah Cobb
The junior running back crossed the 100-yard threshold on the ground for the second week in a row, finishing with 119 yards and a touchdown off 19 carries, nearly breaking the career-high he set last week against Ball State. He answered the call in his first game as Auburn's primary ball carrier.
Keyron Crawford
The senior defensive end was all over the place in Auburn's win over the Jaguars. He recorded five tackles, two of them for a loss of yards, and intercepted a pass for the Tigers' only takeaway of the game.
Eric Singleton Jr.
The junior wide receiver built on the percentage he had a week ago. Singleton led Auburn in recieving with 65 yards off six catches.
Auburn's secondary
It is worth noting that the unit was without multiple contributors, but after limiting Ball State to 71 yards through the air a week ago, the Tigers' secondary did not replicate that performance against South Alabama. Auburn allowed Jaguars quarterback Bishop Davenport to throw for 170 yards and two touchdowns. The intensity of the Ball State game did not show up this week.
Preston Howard
The junior tight end was targeted four times, but did not record a reception. Howard dropped a pass when he was wide-open in the end zone, something that is never going to win any points.
Kickoff for Auburn's matchup against Oklahoma is set for 2:30 p.m. CT and ESPN will carry the broadcast.
