Auburn's Week 10 matchup against Arkansas looks like a favorable opportunity for Alex Golesh and the Tigers. Despite Ryan Silverfield's massive roster overhaul and 42 transfer additions, Auburn enters the SEC showdown with the edge at Jordan-Hare Stadium.
The Auburn Tigers football season can't come soon enough.
As exciting as the offseason has been on the Plains with the arrival of Alex Golesh as head coach, multiple big-time transfers from the portal, and the momentum growing from the upcoming 2027 recruiting class, nothing beats the opening kickoff.
As we patiently wait for September 5 to roll around, Auburn Roundtable has launched an Offseason Opponent Preview for the Tigers upcoming season. Over the next few weeks, we will break down each one of Auburn's games on the schedule.
Let's get to it.
Week 10: November 7, 2026, Early Time Window
Auburn vs. Arkansas
Jordan-Hare Stadium, Auburn, Alabama
After a challenging October, the Auburn Tigers head back home for a matchup with the Arkansas Razorbacks in their 7th SEC matchup of the season.
Past History with Arkansas: It has been a back-and-forth affair between the two programs over the past few years, but the Tigers hold an All-Time record of 21-13-1 against Arkansas. Auburn has allowed the Razorbacks to win the last two contests inside Jordan-Hare Stadium and has not properly defended their home turf in this rivalry since 2020.
Arkansas Snapshot: After a disastrous 2-10 season that cost Sam Pittman his job, the Razorbacks turned to former Memphis head coach Ryan Silverfield to lead a complete reset. It will likely be a year in which it rebuilds its identity within the SEC by bringing in a large number of newcomers. The offense is young and needs time to develop, and the defense got a complete makeover. They could be the biggest wildcard for the conference, but also could remain towards the bottom of the SEC in year one of Silverfield.
Key Matchups: Arkansas heads into the season with KJ Jackson as the likely starter at quarterback. He possesses dual threat capabilities, but the support cast on the offense is certainly questionable. The defense was the biggest issue last season, and it's one that attacked the transfer portal heavily. If the secondary can be league-average within the SEC, they could shock a few teams this season.
Interesting Storyline to Watch: The biggest storyline surrounding Arkansas is whether Ryan Silverfield's massive roster overhaul can produce immediate results. The Razorbacks added 42 transfers, which was the third-most among Power Four programs. If the new pieces come together quickly, Arkansas could surprise some teams and potentially find themselves in contention for a bowl game.
Game Importance Ranking: When considering the 12-game schedule as a whole, this feels like the 10th most important game of the season. This should be a game that Auburn wins, they have more talent, and Arkansas has found themselves near the bottom of the conference for some time now. This game is only important if the Razorbacks complete the upset.
What's Next: The Auburn Tigers will be back on the road as they travel to Starkville to take on Mississippi State.
