The Tigers have been working toward improving their performance on the glass since their exhibition loss against Oklahoma State.

While the Auburn Tigers have gotten off to a 3-0 start this season, that doesn't mean they don't have anything to work on.

One area in which they Tigers have not performed consistently is the glass. Since their less-than stellar performance in the area during the exhibition game against Oklahoma State, it has been a focus for them to improve on the boards.

This is something Auburn needs to get right as it takes a significant step up in competition on Sunday.

"It's all we have talked about all offseason," head coach Steven Pearl said. "That was one of our glaring weaknesses, and it got exposed in the Oklahoma State game and that's the kind of size we are going to be going against so it's good to see improvement in that area but, obviously, you have to buckle your chin straps because Houston is a whole different animal."

As they prepare for a showdown with the No. 1 team in the country, finding ways to box out, limit second-chance points and create other rebound-related advantages for themselves will be crucial.

"Houston is the best offensive rebounding team in the country every single year," Pearl said. "They play with a different level of physicality, a different level of energy, and a different level of intensity that our guys have not been able to experience yet."

Auburn will have to play physical in order to get the job done, something Pearl is aiming to help them accomplish.

"Hopefully that experience really wakes our guys up, because if we don't hit a body every single time a shot goes up, they're going to get every single offensive rebound, and they are going to play volleyball with it," Pearl said. "They're going to get a bunch of me bounds, and we have to do a better job on Sunday of limiting them to one shot as best as we can, but they're going to get offensive rebounds, so when they do, we have to make sure that we get a body on body and don't let it happen again."
