Running back Jeremiah Cobb has been a bright spot for the Tigers this season.

Jeremiah Cobb has had a more significant role in the Auburn Tigers' ground attack this season, and ever since Damari Alston's departure from the program, he has been tasked with even more.

The sophomore from Montgomery heard his name called a lot during Auburn's 23-17 los against the Missouri Tigers in double overtime. He finished the game with 111 yards rushing off 19 carries, averaging 5.8 yards per attempt.

As the season goes along, Cobb is settling in at the position of lead ball carrier more and more.

"More confidence comes with every run," Cobb said. "Just feeling the defense you’re going up against, it gets easier and easier knowing what they’re going to do on this play. It makes it easier."

When Cobb first arrived at Auburn prior to the 2023 season, he was unsure of his ability to get the job done at the college level.

Now that he has taken on this role as the team's lead running back, he enjoys looking back on his journey to this point.

"In the beginning in that freshman year coming out of high school, I could go on and on about that story," Cobb said. "I have always had the dream to do this. It was just crazy how it actually happened. Once I got out here my freshman year and started doing it, it was easy."

Cobb knows that moving the ball on the ground wouldn't be possible without a supporting cast of blockers. He particularly appreciates the help he gets from the team's wide receivers.

"I think I would say the best Horatio (Fields) with the attitude he had behind it," Cobb said. "I know he’s hurt right now. I feel like he stood out during the spring. Perry (Thompson) has done a real good job. I think he has fun doing it."
