For the first time since 1996, the Auburn Tigers earned a road win over the Florida Gators on Saturday. Now it is time for the Tigers to turn their attention to a matchup with the Texas Longhorns, what Auburn hopes will be its third win in a row.
This is only the second time Auburn has crossed paths with Texas on the basketball floor. The Tigers picked up a win against Texas on the road last season.
Record: 12-8
Last time out: 87-67 home win over Georgia
KenPom ranking: No. 35
NCAA Net ranking: No. 38
After Auburn managed to pull off the upset against Florida on Saturday, I'm fully confident it will beat Texas at home in front of its home crowd.
While Texas did get the job done against Georgia on Saturday, picking up a 20-point victory over a team Auburn lost to, I still think the momentum from Saturday will carry over and be a difference-maker.
Texas does have two wins over top 13 opponents, as it beat Alabama and Vanderbilt in back-to-back games, but it also has some ugly losses on its resume as well.
It remains to be seen which version of the Longhorns take the floor in Neville Arena, but I think Auburn can handle any version of them.
Auburn will need a strong backing from its home crowd, and the Tiger faithful should be reinvigorated after seeing the team pick up such a big win on Saturday afternoon.
