From football to basketball and baseball, Auburn has plenty to be excited about. This week's Auburn Roundtable highlights the newcomers and storylines that have the staff most intrigued, including Cole Best, NBA draft pick Narcisse Ngoy, and transfer pitcher Zach Stevens.
The Auburn Tigers have plenty of things to be excited about over the next calendar year.
From the Gridiron to the baseball diamond, the Tigers are working hard to improve the talent on their respective rosters. On this week's Auburn Roundtable, the staff discusses what players and storylines they are most excited about for each major sport.
1. Out of all the newcomers to the football roster, who makes you the most excited? Let's not make it super easy and leave Byrum Brown out of it.
Zac Blackerby: I think Jeremiah Koger is sliding under the radar. I think his experience is valuable and clearly has a rapport with Brown.
Christian Rauh: The running game is going to be so important for Auburn this upcoming season. With Brown and Jeremiah Cobb as the primary weapons, seeing the new offensive line in front of them is something I'm incredibly excited about. South Florida transfer Cole Best is someone I can't wait to see play at this level.
2. Steven Pearl also went deep into the portal as well as adding international players after missing the NCAA tournament. Who is the one new addition you can't wait to see on the floor for Auburn?
ZB: I'm cheating, but I can't wait to see Tahaad Pettiford back after another offseason.
CR: After what just happened this past week with the NBA Draft, I'd have to say it's now Narcisse Ngoy. The international player coming to Auburn was already an exciting prospect to watch. Still, now that he already has his rights tied to the Los Angeles Clippers, more eyes could be on him this season. It will be fun to see how he responds.
3. What baseball transfer portal addition stands out to you the most?
ZB: The left handed pitcher from Mississippi State, Dane Burns, is projected to be a high draft pick and has some pretty solid stuff. Can't wait to see what Butch Thompson does with him.
CR: Hard not to like the pitching additions Butch has added. I like South Alabama's transfer, Zach Stevens. 7-1 with a 2.53 ERA last season is impressive. He could be a great piece to an already stellar pitching staff.
