Auburn landed a massive recruiting win Monday as four-star offensive tackle Layton von Brandt committed to the Tigers over Notre Dame, Penn State, and Florida. The Top-5 offensive tackle in the 2027 class becomes one of the biggest additions yet for Alex Golesh’s rapidly growing recruiting class.

The Auburn Tigers surprised the recruiting world on Monday morning with arguably the biggest win on the trail under new head coach Alex Golesh.

During a live stream hosted by Rivals, Four-Star OT Layton von Brandt announced he has committed to play for Auburn beginning in 2027. The Middletown, Delaware, offensive tackle will choose between Florida, Penn State, Notre Dame, and the Auburn Tigers. According to Rivals, he is ranked as the top 5 offensive tackle inside the entire 2027 class.

The decision comes as a surprise after moving his original decision date up almost six weeks from July 1st, as multiple schools were fighting for his commitment. Late Sunday night, it was reported that highly favored Notre Dame, which already has multiple offensive linemen committed to the 2027 class, was losing steam in its recruiting battle with the Tigers.

According to Rivals Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power, he believes von Brant ”stacks up pretty well in the 2027 OL group. He’s got good length, and I think he’s got a lot of room to continue filling out. I really liked his movement skills at the position. I thought he was a nimble mover, fluid, and a guy who looks pretty athletic. So, when you’re looking at him long-term, I like where he stacks up.”

The newly committed Tiger tackle was highly recruited by Auburn’s Offensive line coach Tyler Hudanick and has an official visit scheduled to the Plains on June 12th.

“Being on campus, felt like a home feeling.” said the new commitment von Brandt. "I feel like i can go step in year one and compete and take over.” When asked what fans can expect of him heading to the Plains, he sounded confident that he could make an impact right away. "I'm a worker and a physical specimen. I can do everything, not everyone in the country can do the thing I do, no one is going to outwork me.”

His commitment moves Auburn’s 2027 class to eight players. He joins 4-Star running back Myson Johson-Cook, 4-Star defensive lineman Donivan Moore, 4-Star tight end George Lamons Jr., 4-star wide receiver Brylan Oduor, 3-star offensive lineman Jaylon Moore, 3-star quarterback Gary Chatman Jr., and 3-star linebacker Kareem Palmer.
