Five-star EDGE Jalanie George has Auburn among his final six schools ahead of a major recruiting weekend on the Plains. The No. 2 player in the 2028 Rivals300 will attend Big Cat Weekend as Alex Golesh and the Tigers battle Ohio State, Oklahoma, Miami, Washington, and Florida for the elite pass rush
It’s a big weekend for the Auburn Tigers as new head coach Alex Golesh and his staff will host their first Big Cat on campus. The event brings together recruits from both the 2027 and 2028 classes who have offers from the Tigers. Although it has been moved up from the end of July due to the NCAA making the entire month a dead period to focus on preseason practices, it still holds a ton of weight in building relationships and potentially commitments on the Plains.
One of the players who will be there enjoying the festivities also announced Auburn as one of his final six teams before making a decision. 2028 Five Star Edge Jalanie George of Desert Edge, Arizona, told Hayes Fawcett of Rivals that his decision is down to six programs. The senior, who is ranked No. 2 in the 2028 Rivals300, has narrowed it down to Ohio State, Washington, Miami, Oklahoma, and Florida, along with the Tigers.
According to Andrew Ivins, a director of scouting at 247 Sports, George, who is listed at 6-4, 245 lbs, is a “productive front-line defender with a promise frame” and is “instinctive against the run and will slide off blocks to make stops.”
He told Rivals regarding his past visit to Auburn, “I really enjoyed my visit to Auburn and feel like they could be a great spot for me.” He will be in action this season following his senior season in high school at the 2027 Polynesian Bowl in Honolulu, as well as the 2027 Navy All-American Bowl in San Antonio.
George is scheduled to be on campus this weekend for Big Cat, joining seven other players from the 2028 recruiting class. Although it is highly unlikely that the Arizona native will make a decision this weekend, it can hopefully help keep the Tiger near the top, if not number one, on the list.
The top player in Arizona will have plenty of time to chat with coaches and around 25 recruits across multiple states on Saturday. The event will begin at approximately 11 am CT on Saturday and end around 4:30 pm CT.
