Former Auburn Tigers edge rusher Derick Hall cashed in Tuesday, agreeing to a three-year, $42 million extension with the Seattle Seahawks. The reigning Super Bowl champions are locking in one of the core leaders of their defense through the 2029 season.
A former Auburn Tiger football player just got paid.
On Tuesday, it was announced that Seattle Seahawks edge rusher Derick Hall reached an agreement on a three-year extension totaling $42 million, $21 million guaranteed.
According to the report, Hall will be under contract with Seattle through the 2029 season, and with incentives, could total up to $46.5 million.
Hall spent four seasons on the Plains from 2019 to 2023, where he played in 47 games for the Tigers. During his time, he started in 31 games, including all contests in his final two years in the program. He recorded 147 tackles and 19.5 sacks in his college career.
The Seattle Seahawks selected him in the 2nd round, 37th overall, and he has already been a mainstay over his first three years on the team.
In his final season, he was named 1st-team All-SEC and a Jason Witten Man of the Year semifinalist.
Hall is coming off a great season in the NFL, serving as one of the main leaders of the Seahawks defense, which reached and defeated the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LX.
The extension comes at an interesting time, as the Seahawks' division rival, the Los Angeles Rams, pulled off a blockbuster trade for Myles Garrett. A statement extension for one of the best edge rushers in the league, Hall, shows the reigning Super Bowl champs are all in on making him a part of their core for the future.
Hall is one of 35 current NFL players who played for the Auburn Tigers. He and Nahemiah Pritchett are both playing for Seattle. The next player likely to get a contract extension with Auburn ties is Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix, who began his collegiate career playing home games at Jordan-Hare Stadium before transferring to the Oregon Ducks.
