Shorthanded Auburn basketball no match for Arkansas on the road cover image

Auburn missed Keyshawn Hall in its road loss against Arkansas.

The Auburn Tigers were unable to finish off the season sweep against the No. 21 Arkansas Razorbacks on the road on Saturday, Feb. 14.

The Tigers (14-11, 5-7 SEC) were without star forward Keyshawn Hall, who head coach Steven Pearl confirmed was indefinitely suspended before the game. His absence did not do any favors for Auburn, and Arkansas (19-6, 9-3) picked up the 88-75 win as a result.

Auburn was in control for the first five minutes of the contest, but Arkansas went on a 10-point run to put together a double-digit lead for the Razorbacks. The Tigers managed to trim the deficit down to two points, but were still down multiple possessions when the first half came to an end.

The Razorbacks came out of the gate on fire to begin the second half, and had built up a 20-point lead less than seven minutes after it started.

Auburn made various attempts to get back into the game, but ultimately was unable to take control of the momentum for long enough to make a difference.

Tahaad Pettiford and KeShawn Hall led the way for the Tigers in Hall's absence. Pettiford led Auburn in scoring with 29 points, Murphy had 22 and no one else on the team reached double figures. Only six total members of the team put points on the board.

Murphy had 12 rebounds, and Elyjah Freeman had nine. Pettiford lead the team in assists with seven.

Auburn's shooting performance fell short of the mark, as it finished the game 27-of-66, 40.9%, from the field, 6-of-19, 31.6%, from 3-point range and 15-of-20, 75%, from the free-throw line.

The Tigers' February skid continued with this loss, and the losing streak has been extended to four games.

Auburn returns to action on Wednesday, Feb. 18 when it takes on the Mississippi State Bulldogs on the road. Tipoff is set for 9 p.m., and ESPN2 will carry the television broadcast.
