March Madness is about a month away, and even though they haven't had the best 2025-26 season, the Auburn Tigers are still viewed as a team with a good chance of taking the floor for NCAA Tournament action.
While Auburn won't be the No. 1 overall seed like it was last season, it will still have an opportunity to create some more postseason moments to be remembered with the rest of the program's tournament history.
As of Saturday, Feb. 13, ESPN's Joe Lunardi projects Auburn to be the No. 8 seed in the East Region. He currently projects the Tigers to take on No. 9 seed Indiana in the first round. That contest would take place in Greenville, South Carolina, the same site the Tigers competed at during the 2022 NCAA Tournament.
The winner of that game would then face the winner the matchup between No. 1 seed Duke and No. 16 Long Island. The winner of that would advance to the East Regional in Washington D.C.
According to CBS Sports' latest bracketology, ehich was updated on the moring of Monday, Feb. 16, Auburn comes in as a No. 9 seed in the West Region, taking on No. 8 seed Clemson in the first round. The winner would advance to the Round of 32 for a probable meeting with No. 1 seed Arizona.
The locations teams in the West Region will play in during the first weekend of the tournament include San Diego, Portland, Tampa and St. Louis. The West Regional will be played in San Jose, California.
There is still some basketball left to be played before conference tournaments and Selection Sunday take place, and Auburn has a chance to either climb up in the pecking order or place itself on the bubble.
Which Auburn team will shop up down the stretch has become a popular debate.
