Auburn Roundtable breaks down the Tigers' 2027 recruiting class, including MJ Evans, Myson Johnson-Cook, Isaac McNeil, and Alex Golesh's recruiting success. We discuss Auburn football recruiting, SEC battles, and the future of the Tigers' Top 10 class.
The Auburn Tigers have certainly had a busy offseason on the recruiting trail.
As Alex Golesh gets comfortable on The Plains, it’s hard not to be excited about what he is building when looking at the 2027 class. On this week’s Auburn Roundtable, the staff gives their thoughts on the most recent commitments and asks who they believe will be the most memorable players when it becomes official this December.
The Auburn Tigers landed Marquis “MJ” Evans earlier this week for their 25th commitment of the 2027 Class. What do you like about his game?
Zac Blackerby: I love the upside of MJ Evans. His size and frame are exactly what coaches want. I think his size and athleticism will offer versatility for the Tigers in the defensive front.
Christian Rauh: He’s an incredible talent, and a player that could find early playing time. I love dual-sport athletes, and the way he plays on the defensive front should translate quickly to the SEC. His recent recruiting profile has shifted his weight up dramatically to 270 as well, which shows he can add the strength needed to compete in this league.
Has Alex Golesh exceeded your expectations on the recruiting trail so far?
ZB: Alex Golesh has exceeded my expectations on the trail. Which is probably silly on my part. He’s been extremely competitive against his peers on the trail at every stop he’s been.
CR: Absolutely. I only thought this class would be 15 players tops. And of those 15, they wouldn’t all contain the same type of pedigree this current class has. He and his staff have gone to battle against other power conference schools, which is obviously new territory for him, and won. This should only mean good signs to come.
Who do you believe will be seen as the ‘face of the class’ for the 2027 cycle, and why?
ZB: I’ll say Isaac McNeil. Highest rated, was a massive win over Georgia, and has all the traits to be an elite player.
CR: Myson Johnson-Cook is my answer. He is one of the first ‘big wins’ on the recruiting trail for Alex Golesh and showed fans they can compete (and win) against recruiting powerhouses like Miami. Also, he’s electric on the field. Averaging over 10 yards per carry last season during his junior season and eclipsing over 1,300 yards rushing definitely has me excited about how he could flourish in the new offensive scheme.
