Auburn lost a 2027 commitment as three-star wide receiver Cedrick Simmons flipped to Alabama. Despite the setback, Alex Golesh's Tigers still boast one of the nation's top recruiting classes and remain just outside the Top 10 in the 2027 team rankings.

The Auburn Tigers lost a 2027 recruit to their in-state rivals on Wednesday.

3-Star wide receiver Cedrick Simmons has flipped his commitment from the Auburn Tigers to the Alabama Crimson Tide. The 5-10, 195-pound wide receiver initially committed to Alex Golesh and the Tigers on June 23rd, but quickly changed direction to Tuscaloosa.

Simmons, who originally chose the Tigers over Alabama and Purdue, was on the fence about selecting Auburn last month, and the Tide were always in the conversation. He told reporters that Alabama and Auburn were close in his decision and he had "a hard decision to make."

Simmons, from Selma, Alabama, is considered the 41st best player in the state, 149th best wideout in the country, and a consensus 3-star across recruiting platforms.

The Auburn Tigers now only hold 2 wide receivers in the class after the commitment change. WR DeShaun Hall and Brylan Oduor round out the room heading to The Plains next season.

With the change in his recruitment, the Tigers are now back to 25 players to join Auburn's 2027 class. It consists of QB Gary Chatman, RB Myson Johnson-Cook, RB Khamoni Williams, WR Brylan Oduor, WR DeShaun Hall, TE George Lamons, OT Layton Von Brandt, OT Rance Brown, IOL Jaylon Moore, IOL Reed Ramsier, DL Donivan Moore, ED Rion Jackson, ED James Pace III, LB Kareem Palmer, LB Isaac McNeil, CB Nash Johnson III, CB Aidyn Wiggins, S Chance Gilbert, S Knyair Crumb, S Nasir Banks, S James Branch, ATH Preston Williams, and K Noah Ash.

Despite the loss of a 3-star recruit, the Auburn Tigers are still listed as the 11th best class in the country according to 247Sports. They are just slightly behind both LSU and Florida to reach a Top-10 ranking.
